South by Southwest Reveals 2012 Music Schedule



"We’re still two months away from South by Southwest 2012, but today the schedule for the music portion went live, adding a slew of new names to the bill. Previously confirmed acts include Built to Spill, The Magnetic Fields, Talib Kweli, Against Me!, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Cloud Nothings, and a keynote speech by Bruce Springsteen.

Update: As a number of readers have pointed out, several acts listed on the festival’s scheduleyesterday have since disappeared, including Best Coast, ASAP Rocky, Dan Deacon, Zola Jesus, YACHT, Nicolas Jaar, Azari & III, Bear In Heaven, Caveman, Anika, Cerebal Ballzy, and Charlift. According to festival organizers, this is the result of a number of reasons, including incomplete paperwork. It’s also possible that an artist initially applied to play the festival, but has since changed its plans. As of now, it’s unclear which of the aforementioned acts will end up playing. Stay tuned to our Festival Outlook page for lineup additions and updates.

Now joining them are Best Coast, M. Ward, of Montreal, ASAP Rocky, Danny Brown, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Dan Deacon, The Drums, Astronautalis, Bear In Heaven, Ceremony, Chairlift, Crystal Antlers, Little Boots, Deerhoof, Dragonette, Gossip, Matthew Dear, Miike Snow, SBTRKT, Sharon Van Etten, Zola Jesus, Nicolas Jaar, Oneohtrix Point Never, Thundercat, The War on Drugs, Youth Lagoon, and Tennis.

Also set to appear are Lana Del Rey, The Ting Tings, Action Bronson, Apparat, Buraka Som Sistema, Spank Rock, Corrosion of Conformity, Jimmy Cliff, Rye Rye, K’naan, YACHT, Band of Skulls, White Rabbits, Beth Jeans Houghton and The Hooves of Destiny, Supreme Dicks, Caveman, Cerebral Ballzy, Freelance Whales, Here We Go Magic, Free Energy, Eleanor Friedberger, The Black Angels, Blondes, Busdriver, Ezra Furman, Friends, Memoryhouse, Mikal Cronin, Miniature Tigers, Zechs Marquise, and Purity Ring.

The massive bill also includes Counting Crows, Tommy Stinson, The Wedding Present, Andrew WK, Brendan Benson, Hot Water Music, Gauntlet Hair, Grieves and Budo, Imogen Heap, Ingrid Michaelson, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Henry Clay People, Justin Townes Earle, The Love Language, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Micachu & the Shapes, The Fresh & Onlys, Gardens & Villa, P.O.S., Anika, And So I Watch You From Afar, Fake Problems, Azari & III, Sleepy Sun, Bahamas, Japanther, The Knux, Carter Tanton, Cassettes Won’t Listen, Jacuzzi Boys, CHALI 2NA, Cities Aviv, Is Tropical, Javelin, Kids These Days, Living Things, Scattered Trees, and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin.

Update: Despite previously being on the lineup, The Polyphonic Spree are no longer slated to play the festival.

STREET EVOL SUMMER FEST GUIDE: FLOC FEST(Dayton, OH)



With Summer right around the corner there are tons of Parties, Gatherings, Concerts,  Festivals and lets face it, reasons to get outside and throw down some cold ones! The trick is to find out which ones are worth going to. What if I told you about a Festival that harbors some of Ohio's Up and coming talent , in a great venue all while going to a great cause? What if I told you it's a Comedy show and Concert?? Crazy right? Well ladies and Gentleman let me introduce you to FLOC FEST!




What is a FLOC you ask?? Well FLOC is actually an Acronym meaning For Love Of Children. (Floc) is a is a volunteer group which raises funds to provide enrichment and educational activities for children from newborn to 18 years of age throughout the Dayton area. FLOC began servicing area children in 1980, and has grown into an industry of volunteers who are passionate about caring for our neglected, abused and foster care community. 
They have teamed up with some of the Local Ohio Talent to create a Festival to raise money for their cause. However they didn't just get anyone... They got some amazing performers.. First off with your Host Comedian Steve Mac.




STEVE MAC


From Dayton Ohio, Steve is just naturally funny. He will be the Host for the Show and will definitely bring stellar Comic Relief. One of The Funniest Dudes you'll ever meet. Steve brings fresh, young, smart, edgy comedy to the table. If you like Dave Chappelle and Kevin Hart, You'll love Steve Mac. He is Definitely causing a Stir in The Ohio Area and is Highly ambitious. "Working harder than a negro slave" as Steve would say, He does Three or Four shows a week, while keeping a full time job. and SELLS OUT on every show.  






BLESS
Bless...also from Dayton Ohio is an up and coming Hiphop artist. The
name Bless is An acronym for Because Language Equals Sound Shaping. His intentions are to make music and really emphasizes on the fact that music IS art, music IS supposed to be GOOD, and IT actually DOES MATTER what you say. His Full Length LP "Because Language Equals Sound Shaping" (B.L.E.S.S.) is set to be released in Fall of 2011.

STATUS FLO





















Status Flo is a hip hop/ r&b group also from Dayton Ohio, which features Street(M.C.), Jeryd Vreeland(Vocalist), Fatty Lumpkin(D.J.). They describe themselves as "Smart People Music." We create songs about life's trials and tribulations as well as inspirational upbeat tracks. They have featured artist such as Bless, Ogre Fury and Mood. We have had the opportunity to open for acts such as D12, Potluck, Das Efx, Vanilla Ice, Mood, Blueprint, Ill Poetic, Illogic, and Macklemore. They have placed in the OHHA, as well as finalists in the "So you think you can rap" contest in Columbus. They try and continue to make music and perform all over Ohio. Currently their demo Smart People Music is being distributed and the EP is under construction. They encourage positivity and feel hip hop's in need of something fresh.
