They always say GOOD things come to an end, but they NEVER say Good things always come to an end WELL. This was the case for The OHIO STATE BUCKEYE Football program. It's so easy to point fingers now and blame every little thing on the Players, the Coaches, the fans & even the Columbus business Community. The Media is doing this now and Ohio State Nation is taking it's lumps. Embarrassment arise, Egos Bruise, Shame surfaces...
Pryor's new car that showed up to the team meeting |
Now a major Magazine does an entire piece on you to reveal EVERYTHING that went on and knocks you down even more...
Rumors start swirling that EVERYTHING these kids get are given to them..
The NCAA Punishes the future of program growth..
Greats start losing their jobs... ETC ETC ETC..
Lets face it, it's going to get VERY BAD before it gets better..
So What Now??
Well changes are happening before our eyes and they suck. A Great man lost his job Yesterday. A man who's Passion and Dedication for The Ohio State University can never be duplicated. Jim Tressel Will be missed. Not only because he was such a great coach, but because he was such a well mannered man who represented the Buckeyes well. All this info coming out now could damage his rep and Legacy. However to us he will be known as the coach that never gave mercy to Michigan! 3640 days!
but the show MUST GO ON! We have to search for a new leader and move forward with our heads high and moving forward...
SO WHO IS NEXT?!
here are two candidates that are rumored to be interested or targeted next for the job in 2012.
First off the Interim coach..
LUKE FICKELL
Pros: Coach Fickell has been a player and a coach for the Bucks. At age 37 he is young enough to relate to the players. He started coaching in 2000 as a DL coach for the Akron Zips then came to the Bucks in 2002 as a Special Teams coach. He has also coached LineBackers in that tenure which has been one of OSU's Pride and Joy Positions and he was also the co-Defensive Coordinator.
Cons: Has Coached UNDER Tressel & has never been the head guy of a Program until now. Young enough that players may feel they can take advantage. Associated with the Scandal, Has learned Tressel ball and Nobody knows or can Play Tressel ball as well as...well Tressel.
Notes: Some Say he can earn the Job if he can Savage 9+ wins this season. We don't see it because he is too associated with the Scandal. I think if Gene Smith is still the A.D he has a good chance to become the coach. If not, it's not looking good.
URBAN MEYER
Pros: An Ohio Guy who Started his Coaching Career with Ohio State. Has won National Coach of the Year. Has two National Titles (06, 08) (one of those vs. The Buckeyes) His winning percentage(.842) through 2009 Ranks First nationally among active college football head coaches. Overall 104-23 Bowls 7-1. Has only been a head coach for 10 years. On pace to be one of the Greatest ever, if he chooses to coach again.
Cons: Health has made him stop coaching then come back and then stop again. Some say a top tier coach will not accept the OSU job until the NCAA sanctions are over and decided which makes OSU's Timing and Urban Meyer's timing off. There were a significant amount of players who were arrested under Urban's watch @ UF. 30+ players arrested more than 40 times in 5 years. Leads the nation.
Notes: Some say Meyer decided to quit Florida for Health and to spend time with his Family. But then takes an ESPN job that is time demanding kind of contradicting. He has bought a house in The Columbus Area as well. However his daughter tweeted out this...
Others include Bo Pelini, Mike Leach, Mark Dantonio..etc etc.. Names are going to be thrown out like crazy. However the next guy to come in will have to be the clean up guy and have to deal with the Sanctions of the NCAA..It's going to be a LONG YEAR. As always we will keep you posted.
But To OSU Nation.. Keep your Head up, and let the haters hate. People will jump off the bandwagon and you will see all the Fake fans and New Fans more clearly. But all in all stay Positive...
