Supreme x Michael Jackson Collection

All Hypebeast can breathe a sigh of relief, Supreme has unveiled its Michael Jackson collab. Now with that said 90% of buyers may not get the cultural importance of Michael Jackson (thank god for google) but i digress. Although this is probably the most basic design it will still be a cop in my book, just on the fact that MJ is on the shirt. What do you think........?

Supreme X The North Face 2013 Fall/Winter Collection

With Fall being here and winter right around the corner, Supreme has teamed up with The North Face to produce two special versions of the Nuptse Jacket and Nuptse Vest. Made exclusively for Supreme, the Nuptse Jacket and Vest both feature a water-resistant nylon shell and 700 fill goose down. Both the jacket and the vest feature a fur print on the exterior and come with double-layer abrasion-resistant taffeta shoulder reinforcements and taffeta emergency hood with a reflective Supreme logo print. Both pieces will be available in-store and online in New York, Los Angeles and London starting November 21 followed by a Japanese release starting November 23. So dope

 

 

 

Stussy x BAPE “Ill Collaboration” Video

To build up anticipation for the forthcoming collaboration between streetwear heavyweights Stussy and BAPE, the two imprints present ”Ill Collaboration” — a short clip creatively directed by A$AP Bari. Following from the brands’ first collaboration in 2010, this latest partnership celebrates BAPE’s 20th anniversary alongside Stussy’s unyielding presence in fashion. Here, we get a first glance at the collection, where desert camouflage from ’90s military dress and both brands’ iconic logos are prevalent throughout. Cast your eye over the clip above to see Fredo Santana, Ian Connor and A$AP Ty mob the streets of New York on quad bikes.

Kingsrowe has been a staple in Columbus, OH for a while now, the brand has definitely come long way with its design and also with the quality of their products. We've had our eye on this brand for some time now and with the new brick and motor store opening we had to do a spotlight on these guys. With fashion rapidly changing these guys have stayed true to their original concept while adding new and exciting elements every season. Some of our personal favorites are the soft logo tees and their new "Crown and Oar line" (seen below). They also have many accessories they have since added to the brand. Photographed in Dublin by established fashion photographers Mert & Marcus Piggott, the global campaign arrives in conjunction with both label’s Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Having already worked with the Armani on its Fall 2011 campaign, Rihanna this time trades in her blonde pixie-cut in exchange for a brunette appeal. The pictorial also maintains consistency with last season’s visuals via an array of monochromatic, black and white images with a rock-inspired aesthetic." Definitely look like Rihanna will have a career after the music thing.

Versace for H&M Fashion Show in New York

Donatella Versace isn't the type of person to be a "halfstepper". Rather, she puts her heart and soul into everything. So when she was granted to oppotunity to design for a trendy brand like H&M, the ending result for a HIT! The Versace for H&M collection debuted Tuesday night on the catwalk lived up to the hype surrounding the limited-edition collection as well as Versace’s own glitzy standards, including everything from metallic dresses to studded tuxedo-style shorts. Death of Swagger

Yesterday I was browsing through my time line on twitter when I came across the following hash tag from an 80 year old woman trying to gain 80 thousand followers: #oldladyswag. And though it had previously occurred to me that this was coming, it confirmed what I already knew. The use of the word swagger is no longer acceptable, or cool. Not only has it become too widely used, but the terms meaning itself has just become too broad. I recently saw a guy get a cast taken off his leg after a boating accident, the first thing he said when he stepped onto the floor? "I'm done with that handicap swag!"

Here is how google defines the word swagger:

swag·ger/ˈswagər/

Verb:
To walk or behave in a very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive way: "he swaggered along the corridor".
Noun:
A very confident and typically arrogant or aggressive gait or manner.

Somewhere along the way swagger became less about who you actually were and more so about who you wanted people to believe you were. People began to not necessarily HAVE swagger so much as they were attempting to ACHIEVE swagger. And how did they attempt to achieve it? By doing what other people who claimed to have a swag told them to do. They wore certain brands and styles of clothing. They used certain slang terms. They bought certain brands of cars, and sun glasses, and kicks. And then they told their friends "check out my swag!"

Now let's be clear people have been attempting to be stylish based on what other people have done, said, and wore forever. In the 80s rapper dressed the way drug dealers dressed, with the track suits and Gazelles (which are sun glasses for you 90s babies) and Adidas. I say that to highlight the fact that I'm not coming down on people for wanting to be stylish. The issue is the broad, over use, and frankly misuse of the word swagger. To have a swagger signifies ownership. It's yours. It's unique to you, and no one else has it. It's sort of like the fingerprint of your life.

when does it stop??

Now, if you walk the same, and talk the same, and use the same slang, buy the same clothes, wear them the same way, use the same accessories, get the same haircut, as everyone else, then how exactly is your swagger yours? Believe me when I say there is NOTHING wrong with being stylish. I mean let's be honest, no one wants to be considered unfashionable. Just don't make the mistake of fitting in as having swag, swagger is an attitude, not something you can buy or learn, and by definition it's not the best attitude to have anyway. There's nothing wrong with confidence, but aggressive arrogance is unappealing. Its a turn off to any women older than the age of 15.

So in conclusion what I'm saying is there is no such thing as #oldladyswag or #handicapswag or #hipsterswag or any other type of #hashtagswag. There is only swagger, and its long been known that when parents, teachers, grandparents, and older white people start using a slang term, it's time for us to stop using it. Swagger, ironically yours has expired.

On a side note I wish I had used #hashtagswag BEFORE I declared it uncool...

Supreme x Nike SB '94

Supreme and Nike are linking up and have once again chosen the Nike SB ’94 model for this season’s collaboration. The leather upper of last year’s release has been replaced this time around with a nubuck version, but apart from that the only other change will be the colors available. No release date has been announced yet but the Japanese retail price has been set at ¥14,700 JPY (approximately $190 USD).
